Laura Wells | Integrative Therapist in Salisbury & Online UK
Welcome — I’m Laura Wells (she/her), The Diversity Therapist. I’m a counsellor and certified Brainspotting therapist offering advanced mind-body therapy and LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent affirming-counselling, both in Salisbury and online. My integrative approach offers holistic, tailored support to adults with anxiety, dissociation, burnout, and relationship challenges.
"Working Diversely, Honouring Individuality!"
Every client I work with brings their own embodied survival story, strengths, and struggles. My role is to create a therapeutic space where your individuality is respected, diversity is celebrated, and healing can unfold in a way that feels safe, inclusive, and authentic to you.
Honouring Identity, Mind, and Body
As a neuroqueer therapist, my ongoing journey of self-discovery and liberation profoundly shapes my approach. I know how important it is to feel seen and affirmed in every part of who you are. This is why I am committed to offering decolonised, somatic, and holistic counselling that honours your story and your resilience.
Central to my work is strengthening the bridge between mind and body — helping you release negative beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you. I believe our bodies carry wisdom and survival stories that are not something to fear or silence, but something to listen to, trust, and integrate. Healing means reclaiming that connection and discovering new ways of being that feel safe, authentic, and empowering.
I also understand the challenges of expressing experiences that don’t have words, and the frustration or shame that can come from not being able to communicate what’s happening inside. In therapy — and in life — this can leave people feeling isolated or misunderstood. My approach goes beyond words alone, using somatic awareness, Brainspotting, and creative exploration to help you express what feels unspoken, and to find connection even when language falls short.
My Therapeutic Approach: Somatic, Relational, and Affirming
My work is rooted in the belief that therapy should be flexible, attuned, and responsive to each person in the moment. I draw on a range of approaches to support safety, connection, and healing, always choosing the tools that best fit your needs.
-
Relational Counselling → offers a foundation of safety, trust, and connection, where healing can unfold at your pace.
-
Brainspotting Therapy → an advanced, brain–body trauma therapy that uses eye positions to access the midbrain where trauma is stored, supporting deep release and integration.
-
Sensorimotor and Somatic Experiencing Therapy → focus on stabilising the nervous system, reducing overwhelm, and building resilience, self-awareness, and self-expression.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) / Parts Work → helps you meet and integrate exiled parts and painful experiences, developing compassionate connection to your core Self.
-
Polyvagal-Informed Therapy → increases your window of tolerance, anchors safety in the body, and supports nervous system regulation.
-
Creative and Expressive Therapy → offers ways to explore and express what words alone cannot capture, helping you process feelings and experiences more fully.
Together, these approaches allow us to work with the mind, body, and emotions in an integrated way — supporting not just symptom relief, but deeper healing, resilience, and reconnection to yourself.
Who I Work With
I work with adults across the UK, both in person in Salisbury and through online counselling UK.
While I welcome anyone seeking support, I have a special focus on:
-
Adults experiencing anxiety, intrusive thoughts, imposter syndrome, dissociation, burnout, shutdown, or relationship difficulties
-
Neurodivergent clients (including autistic people, ADHD, and sensory-sensitive people)
-
Neuroqueer, LGBTQ+, non-binary and trans clients, seeking affirming therapy that honours identity
-
People healing from childhood trauma, family estrangement, or narcissistic abuse
My aim is to offer a safe, affirming, and inclusive space where you can feel fully seen, supported, and empowered — whatever your background or story.
“If what I’ve shared resonates with you, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you in your healing journey.”
Professional and Personal Bio
Personal Bio
When I’m not working, you’ll often find me walking in nature with my loyal dog, Crumble, and spending time with family and friends. I love to cook, draw and dance, all of which help me express creativity and find balance. My natural curiosity draws me into research and reflection on the complexities of the human experience — a passion that continues to shape my work as a therapist.
Professional Bio
With over 20 years’ experience in mental health and social work, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my therapy practice. I opened my private practice in 2020, offering sessions online across the UK and in Salisbury.
My specialist focus includes neurodiversity and Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity (GSRD), alongside somatic approaches that support mind–body healing. I am also a Certified Brainspotting Therapist, using advanced brain–body methods to support individuals process experiences that could take years of talking therapy to address.
My practice centres on complex and relational trauma, and I offer an extra warm welcome to individuals from marginalised communities. I remain committed to ongoing supervision, personal therapy, and professional development, ensuring that my work is compassionate, inclusive, and grounded in the latest therapeutic approaches.
