The Diversity Therapist
“Working diversely, honouring individuality!”
Specialist trauma counselling in Salisbury & online. Somatic therapy for complex trauma, neurodiversity, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
Welcome — I’m Laura Wells (she/her), The Diversity Therapist. I offer specialist trauma counselling in Salisbury and online across the UK, providing tailored and holistic support for people who have survived complex and developmental trauma. I offer an extra warm welcome and affirming space for neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, and trans clients, supporting them with compassion and respect.
As a Certified Brainspotting Therapist and Relational Counsellor, I specialise in healing trauma through approaches that honour both mind and body. My practice integrates Brainspotting, somatic and sensorimotor therapy, parts work (IFS), expressive arts, and relational counselling to create a therapeutic space tailored to your needs.
I work with adults living with the impact of complex trauma, including intrusive thoughts, sensory overwhelm, shutdown or dissociation, emotional flooding, flashbacks, anxiety, and difficulties with self-esteem and relationships. Whether you feel emotionally numb, hypervigilant, or disconnected, my approach goes beyond words alone — helping you reconnect with yourself, regulate your nervous system, and build resilience layer by layer.
Who I Work With
I support individual adults in person in Salisbury or Online navigating:
-
Complex, developmental, or physical trauma
-
Gender identity, sexual orientation, or relationship exploration
-
Neurodivergence (ADHD, autism, sensory differences)
-
Relationship struggles, family estrangement, or narcissistic abuse
-
Overwhelm, emotional dysregulation, or burnout
You don’t need to fit neatly into a category. Many people I work with bring a mix of experiences — and together, we create a safe space to meet whatever arises with compassion and care.
My Approach
Every healing journey is unique. I don’t see therapy as fixing you, but as honouring the resilience that has carried you this far while creating space for new possibilities to emerge.
My approach blends mind and body work in ways that feel supportive to you. I work relationally and can include modalities such as brainspotting, somatic practices, parts work (IFS), or even expressive arts when words aren’t enough. Together, we shape a process that reflects your needs and values, creating a safe, inclusive space where every part of you is welcome.
About Me
I bring both my professional training and my lived experience into the therapy room. As someone who identifies as neurodivergent and queer, I know how deeply important it is to be met with genuine understanding, respect, and affirmation. My commitment is to create a space where all identities, bodies, and ways of being are welcomed without question.
It’s an honour for me to walk alongside clients as they discover new possibilities for themselves. Whether you choose to work with me in-person in Salisbury or online across the UK, my intention is to offer a calm, warm and present relationship where you feel seen, heard and empowered to heal in your own way.
What To Expect
-
A gentle beginning — In our first session, we’ll go at your pace. It’s a chance to get to know each other, talk about what brings you here, and begin shaping therapy around your needs.
-
Safety first — You don’t have to share anything before you’re ready. My priority is to create a calm, supportive space where you feel grounded and respected.
-
Collaborative process — Therapy is something we do together. We’ll decide together which approaches feel most supportive and adjust as your needs evolve.
-
Your pace, your story — Healing doesn’t have to be rushed. Whether you need to move slowly, pause, or explore in layers, every part of you is welcome here.
You don’t have to do this alone. If you’re ready, I invite you to reach out and take the next step toward healing.
